Do you have a child who’s flipping over for gymnastics? One of Grossmont Center’s newest tenants is San Diego Gymnastics, which emphasizes the basic fundamentals, and also the fun gymnastics has to offer children of all ages from toddlers to teens.
San Diego Gymnastics has been in business for 10 years and is a well know and highly reputable family-owned business in San Diego County. They have three locations, one in Point Loma’s Liberty Station, a second in Otay Ranch Town Center in Chula Vista and this year, they opened their newest location in Grossmont Center. San Diego Gymnastics and their owners are so excited to now be part of the Grossmont Center community and pleased to offer their wonderful gymnastics program to local children of all ages.
Children of all skill levels are welcome at San Diego Gymnastics, from beginners who want to have fun learning basic gymnastic, such as somersaults and cartwheels, to children who are ready to compete in the sport. All staff members are USA Gymnastics-certified coaches and are passionate about the sport and working with children. Their goal is to provide a safe, fun and learning environment for all the children in their gymnastics program.
They offer a wide variety of classes for children from ages 9 months to 18 years. Their parent/child classes; Play Date 1’s (ages walking to 20 months) and Play Date 2’s (ages 18 months to 3 years), are a great way for little ones to learn gross motor skills and also social skills, plus it’s a wonderful bonding time for families to spend together.
Once kids age out of Play Dates, they can enroll in Grommets, (ages 3 to 5), and Hang Five, (ages 5-6) classes. After the age of 6, classes are organized by skill level, working up to an advanced level. Other classes include the Boys Power Hour, and Beginning and Intermediate Tumbling. In all sessions, children reap the benefits of gymnastics: all-around fitness, strength, flexibility, balance, and self-confidence, to name just a few. San Diego Gymnastics provides a secure and supportive environment for learning thanks to experienced coaches who are knowledgeable not just in gymnastics but in other areas as well, such as kinesiology and cheer; some are even credentialed school teachers. Each instructor is subject to a background check and they must be first aid and CPR certified. Every class has a child-to-teacher ratio that gives students plenty of personalized instruction. Education and safety are paramount here.
In addition to regular classes, San Diego Gymnastics also hosts many special events at its Grossmont Center location. They offer Open Gym sessions, one for children 5 and younger and another for children 5 and older. On certain days, parents can drop their child off for gymnastics fun while they enjoy a date night. Also, for little ones who are super excited about gymnastics, this is the perfect place to throw a birthday party!. Kids can play and tumble in the gym for the first hour of the party and then spend the last half-hour in the viewing area opening presents, eating cake, or enjoying other activities. Like other Grossmont Center tenants, San Diego Gymnastics also offers seasonal special events such as summer camps and the Sept. 22 Fun Fest, where all students who are enrolled in classes can show off their moves in a special performance for friends and family members.
San Diego Gymnastics prides itself on keeping all of its facilities exceptionally clean, they have state-of-the-art equipment; and abide by stringent schedules for cleaning and equipment checks. Children work out on equipment appropriate for their age and skill level and coaches use proper spotting techniques so that students can safely learn skills and keep their progression moving forward.
The owners of San Diego Gymnastics chose all three of their locations because they are family-friendly locations, and they are especially pleased to now be located at Grossmont Center. Unlike most gyms, which are typically located in industrial warehouses, San Diego Gymnastics is housed in retail centers. At Grossmont Center, the facility is surrounded by shops, restaurants, and plenty of FREE parking. Parents can drop their child off for lessons, then get their errands done or grab a quick bite to eat before picking them back up. It’s the ideal location for busy families who are always on the go. San Diego Gymnastics focuses on the recreational aspect of gymnastics first and foremost, with a less rigorous schedule that allows children to participate in other activities. Because of this, their students are less likely to burn out on gymnastics or suffer injuries and can truly develop a love of the sport.
San Diego Gymnastics is proud to be part of Grossmont Center’s “shop local” community. When you buy local at these enterprising shops, restaurants, and establishments, you are supporting “mom and pop” entrepreneurs whose passion is serving the La Mesa area. They contribute to a thriving economy and a vibrant community gathering place at Grossmont Center. Stop by San Diego Gymnastics next time you’re at the center and see what they have to offer your family!
