Dante’s Pizza has been a popular fixture at the Grossmont Center food court for years, and for good reason. The eatery is well-known for its savory and scrumptious Italian food, generous portions, affordable prices, and friendly service.
“We have customers who always stop by when they are at the Center so they can get a slice of pizza or one of our delicious combo plates,” says owner Graciela Lopez Cruz. “We make sure everyone enjoys a good meal at Dante’s because we want our customers to keep coming back for more.”
There is something for everyone to love here, thanks to a menu of Italian favorites that is exceptionally well-rounded, especially for a food court eatery. With the name Dante’s Pizza, slices and pies are naturally a huge draw. Pizzas come in three sizes: small (10 inches), medium (12 inches), and large (14 inches). Customers rave about the chewy crust, the lavish topping of fresh cheese, and the tomato sauce that strikes the ideal balance between rich, tangy, and sweet.
Customers can select their own toppings or opt for one of the creative specialty pies. For instance, the Buffalo Wing pizza swaps the tomato sauce for a ranch-flavored sauce and is topped with chicken marinated in delectable classic wing flavors. The Supreme is the ultimate pizza, boasting pepperoni, mushrooms, onions, green peppers, beef, and sausage. Other specially crafted pies include Chicken Cordon Bleu, Meat Lovers, Garlic Chicken, and Philly Cheese Steak. Many pizzas are also available by the slice—and those slices are large and satisfying.
There is more to Dante’s Pizza than that, though. Tasty sandwiches are also menu highlights and, just like the pizzas, there is a wide variety of options to choose from. Toasted subs are stacked with provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, and mild banana peppers, and flavored with mayo and oil and vinegar. Fillings include turkey breast, ham, pastrami, roast beef, and tuna. For a real gourmet spin on these subs, try the Garlic Chicken Deluxe, Meatball, Pizza, or Chicken Philly versions. For those customers who don’t eat meat can savor the Veggie sub, either with or without cheese— possible fillings include mushrooms, black olives, jalapeno peppers, roasted red peppers, green peppers, pineapple, and pickles.
Dante’s Pizza also offers grilled panini sandwiches made with fresh French bread. For maximum flavor, there is the classic Italian with ham, Genoa salami, pepperoni, and provolone, and the Super Italian adds bacon and bologna to that mouthwatering combination. All panini and sub sandwiches come with a Claussen kosher pickle spear and a choice of chips, apple slices, or red potato salad.
Other menu options include soups, wings, Boneless Wing Dings (boneless, breaded, white meat chicken bites), pastas, calzones, salads, and cheesy breadsticks. For a fantastic meal deal, there are pizza, salad, calzone, pasta, and soup combos. These plentifully sized plates are incredibly affordable—and many of them come with Dante’s famous garlic rolls!
Hard as it may be to do so with all of this delicious food, but Dante’s Pizza fans know to save room for the delightful desserts. The appealing choices include the New York-style Baby Watson cheesecake, the 7-Layer Bar and the Rockslide Brownie studded with pecans.
Dante’s Pizza is one of Grossmont Center’s many shop local success stories. By providing delicious food, consistent and exceptional customer service, and a high-quality dining experience, Dante’s Pizza has developed a devoted following. This type of dedicated customer service enables small businesses to grow and thrive, which is why it is so important to buy local when shopping or dining out. These businesses add to the unique ambiance not just of the Center’s, but of La Mesa as well.
