We’re more than a mall, we’re a community

Grossmont Center proudly supports many non-profit organizations from La Mesa and the surrounding area. Giving back to the community is a big part of what Grossmont Center stands for. We believe in helping the amazing people and organizations who do so much to make this community a better place to live in whatever way we can.

SHARP Grossmont Hospital

SHARP Grossmont Hospital is East County San Diego’s largest health care facility, offering orthopedics, labor and delivery, cancer, heart and stroke care. Grossmont Center is a proud partner of the hospital, a nearby neighbor to the mall, joining in their efforts for several events throughout the year including free health screenings which take place at the mall annually. San Diego Blood Bank

Grossmont Center is proud to partner with the San Diego Blood Bank to offer blood donation events at the Center. Giving blood is an easy thing to do, but it helps touch the lives of so many. More info: click here.


Green Hat Electronics hosts electronic recycling and document shredding services for schools, churches, non-profits and businesses throughout San Diego County. Grossmont Center is proud to partner with Green Hat Electronics by hosting quarterly e-waste donation events. These events allow our guests and neighbors access to safe electronic recycling and disposal, as well as confidential document shredding services.  On-site paper shredding will be offered for $5/box. San Diego Animal Support Foundation

Everyone is welcome at Grossmont Center, whether it’s families, shoppers, diners or dogs! We are proud to host three pet adoption events every year to connect families with an animal in need. Hundreds of adoptions have been made possible through these events at Grossmont Center. for more info, please click here.

Boys and Girls Club of East County

Since 1961, the Boys and Girls Club of East County has been developing and offering programs and activities to disadvantaged local youth in the El Cajon, Lakeside, La Mesa and Santee communities. Their mission is to inspire disadvantaged youth members to realize their full potential as productive and responsible citizens. Grossmont Center is proud to partner with this amazing organization. Crisis House

Crisis House has served east county since 1970. Their mission is to respond immediately to stop the cycle of domestic violence and homelessness and connect families and individuals to crucial resources that empower them to renew their lives. Their emergency resource center is the only one in east county serving the homeless and those in crisis. Grossmont Center is proud to partner with Crisis House by collecting new and gently used sports apparel for donation to benefit Crisis House throughout the year. Read more about Crisis House here.


The East County Family YMCA offers a variety of programs, services and initiatives that enable kids to realize their potential, offer ways for families to have fun together, empower people to live healthier lives; prepare people for employment, welcome and embrace newcomers and help foster a cause driven community. Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank

The Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank is the largest hunger-relief organization in San Diego County. The Food Bank distributed 22 million pounds of food last year and serves 370,000 people every month in communities throughout San Diego County – including working-poor families, fixed-income seniors, elementary school children living in poverty, and 28,000 low-income, active-duty military personnel and their dependents. Kiwanis International Club

The Kiwanis International Club is an international service organization dedicated to helping the lives of others. With members ages 8 to 80, the Kiwanis strive to help their communities and get children interested in volunteer work at a young age. Grossmont Center was the original host to their national “March of Dimes” event in San Diego, and is honored to be hosting their 100th anniversary food drive.

La Mesa Chamber of Commerce

The La Mesa Chamber of Commerce, like Grossmont Center, is all about the local community in the La Mesa area. With a focus on advocacy, education and networking, the La Mesa Chamber of Commerce hosts events throughout the year to benefit the neighborhood, for a complete list of events or to learn more about the chamber, please click here.

La Mesa Park and Recreation Foundation

La Mesa Park and Recreation Foundation facilitates quality projects and programs that provide activities to strengthen community and family bonds as well as foster pride in La Mesa and its parks. Grossmont Center supports this mission by donating all coins from the fountains in the Center to the foundation. More info: click here

Maryland Avenue Elementary School

Grossmont Center is supporting our local community by partnering with different organizations each month throughout the year! The mall helped to benefit a local La Mesa school — Maryland Avenue Elementary by collecting donations of gently used sports equipment and shoes to benefit their programs.

Oasis Lifelong Adventure

Oasis Lifelong Adventure, founded in 1982, is a non-profit organization focused on providing adults ages 50 and older an opportunity to pursue vibrant, healthy, productive and meaningful lives. Oasis is active in over 40 cities, with a presence locally here in San Diego with locations in Escondido and La Mesa. Grossmont Center is proud to partner with San Diego Oasis, which operates two different facilities at the mall: a Wellness Center and a Lifelong Learning Center. Princess Project

Grossmont Center is collecting new and gently used Prom dresses for The Princess Project. The Princess Project promotes self-confidence and individual beauty by providing free prom dresses and accessories to high school girls who cannot otherwise afford them. Their effort is made possible through invaluable volunteer, donor and community support. San Diego has been helping girls since 2009 find their prom dress. With the help of over 300 volunteers, they reach over 1,500 local teenagers, to make their prom dreams come true. They collect 1,000’s of dresses each season. They hope to collect over 2000 this season. Over the past eight years they have given away 6,050 dresses.

Reptile Association of San Diego

Everyone is welcome at Grossmont Center, whether it’s families, shoppers, The Reptile Association of San Diego is a not-for-profit group that has made it their very personal mission to be sure that every pet be given equal consideration in life – be it furry, feathered, or scaled. They aim to spread awareness through one-on-one relations and public interaction, promote of the responsible keeping of reptiles, and encourage and inspire the next generation of herpetology enthusiasts. Their pets are wonderful ambassadors of their individual species, and they invite you, the general public, to have the hands-on and exciting experience of meeting, touching, and even handling them. Sports Boosters

Grossmont Center is all about family and events, which is why we support the Sports Booster program. This community organization is dedicated to promoting healthy and active lifestyles among our local youth through after-school sports programs. The program has contributed millions of dollars to athletic departments across the United States. Grossmont Center is proud to contribute to the Sports Boosters Program in support of our communities.

Peyton’s Project

Peyton’s Project came about when he was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD). Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD), the type Peyton has, attacks the muscles at an accelerated rate. Boys are only affected by DMD and a majority are in wheelchairs by middle school. Grossmont Center is proud to partner with Peyton’s Project and help create awareness and raise money to fight this devastating and fatal disease. To find out more, please click here.

American Medical Response

AMR is partnering with Grossmont Center to help effectively train as many bystanders as possible to provide CPR when the time comes. AMR and the Heartland Fire Department have partnered for years on events that will enable community members to learn Compression Only CPR, which teaches how to properly compress the chest and avoid the use of mouth to mouth ventilation. With a better trained community, more cardiac arrest victims will go home to their loved ones.
