Grossmont‌ ‌Center,‌ ‌La‌ ‌Mesa‌ ‌|‌ Seafood ‌Restaurant

Grossmont Center’s Red Lobster® prides itself on knowing how to Sea Food Differently®. That means serving unique and delicious takes on traditional seafood—this is the place that came up with Lobsterfest® and Endless Shrimp®, after all—and doing so in a way that respects our oceans as incredibly valuable natural resources. When you eat here, you’ll get a good meal while doing good for the planet.

An environmentally conscious approach to sourcing seafood has been a bedrock for the chain, which has opened more than 700 restaurants in 11 countries since the first Red Lobster® debuted in Florida in 1968. The company’s three tenets for sourcing are traceable, sustainable, and responsible. That means the seafood comes from trusted sources who follow best practices as well as all legal regulations. Red Lobster® also focuses on using a balance of wild-caught or farm-raised seafood, in order to promote healthy marine ecosystems and ensure wild populations of fish aren’t decimated by overfishing. As a founding member of the Global Aquaculture Alliance, Red Lobster® has been a longtime leader in seafood sustainability and has spent years cultivating relationships with top suppliers to ensure a high standard of quality.

And when you have such top-quality ingredients, it is easy to create mouthwatering dishes. Red Lobster® puts inventive spins on seafood, such as the Dragon Shrimp™, where perfectly crisped shellfish is doused with a spicy soy-ginger sauce, mixed with broccoli, and served on a bed of rice. A newer flavor-packed dish is the Salmon Power Bowl—Atlantic salmon harmonizes beautifully with edamame, seasonal berries, sliced almonds, quinoa rice, and a lemony olive oil vinaigrette. It is dishes like these (and the cult favorite Cheddar Bay® Biscuits!) that have attracted a devoted customer following for years.

“People enjoy coming to Red Lobster® because they get a lot of wonderful food for their money,” says General Manager Carlos Arevalo. “Seafood is generally considered a more expensive option when dining out, but we want our prices to be as affordable as possible. That is why we always have a lot of great specials, such as our Weekday Win menu, which offers a different deal before 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. That means one day there is a discount on our Admiral’s Feast, while the next day it is our Four-Course Feast that is featured.”

The portions of the ocean’s bounty are a Red Lobster® signature and truly have to be experienced. The Admiral’s Feast is like going to the ultimate fish fry, with perfectly battered and crisp bay scallops, shrimp, clam strips, and wild-caught flounder. Or try the Four-Course Feast, which is a version of Red Lobster® greatest hits—soup, salad, entree, and dessert.

Then there are the specials that are so, well, special that they are considered “events.” Occurring seasonally, these menu items have legions of fans who eagerly anticipate their arrival. Perhaps the most famous one is Lobsterfest®. In 2019, Lobsterfest® dishes included Lobster in Paradise®, a fabulous combination of crispy, coconut-flavored Maine lobster tail, lobster meat and shrimp doused in a Caribbean pineapple beurre blanc, a grilled jumbo shrimp skewer, and rice. Other choices were Lobster-Topped Tilapia, RL Signature Creamy Lobster Alfredo, and Classic Surf and Turf. In addition to Lobsterfest®, Red Lobster® also boasts Crabfest® and Endless Shrimp® specials.

Delicious food is also available year-round with the regular menu. Starters run the gamut, from savory Seafood Stuffed Mushrooms to the lusciously cheesy Langostino Lobster-Artichoke-and-Spinach Dip, which is paired with crunchy tortilla chips for a nice play on textures and flavors. In addition to appetizers, you can also order from the diverse lineup of soups and salads.

For your main dish, it may be hard to choose from the array of tantalizing options. Snow Crab Legs, Wood-Grilled Shrimp, Salmon New Orleans, Bar Harbor Lobster Bake, Fish and Chips…the list goes on and on. Don’t forget to check out the Today’s Catch section of the menu, which is a regularly rotating selection of delectable fish. If you like to mix things up, Land & Sea dishes such as the Rock Lobster and Steak, Wood-Grilled Shrimp and Sirloin, and the Mixed Grill are ideal for you. Not quite hungry enough for a feast? Opt for a smaller portion with the Tasting Plates, which includes Shrimp Potstickers, Tuna Poke, and the Chilled Lobster & Shrimp Roll. Save room for a dessert like the Key Lime Pie, Warm Apple Crostada, Chocolate Wave cake, or one of the seasonal creations.

Red Lobster® has much more in store, including lunch specials, speedy-service Quick Catches, a kids’ menu, signature cocktails, and Happy Hour deals on apps, beer, wine, and spirits. With such a tantalizing menu, good service is key to keeping the restaurant running smoothly, and this is another area where Red Lobster® excels. The energetic wait staff works hard to deliver service with a smile, creating a welcoming ambiance for all customers. Need more of the unlimited biscuits or have a question about the fish of the day? The servers have got you covered—their goal is to help make your meal here memorable.

So if all the succulent—and sustainable!—seafood has reeled you in, visit Red Lobster® at Grossmont Center. You will Sea Food Differently®, too!
