We’re more than a mall, we’re a community

Grossmont Center proudly supports many non-profit organizations from La Mesa and the surrounding area. Giving back to the community is a big part of what Grossmont Center stands for. We believe in helping the amazing people and organizations who do so much to make this community a better place to live in whatever way we can.

Giving Back

“This month we are collecting Pet Food and Supplies to support the San Diego Animal Support Foundation. Drop off your donations to the Info Booth or in the donation bin at any of our events.”

Crisis House

Crisis House has served east county since 1970. Their mission is to respond immediately to stop the cycle of domestic violence and homelessness and connect families and individuals to crucial resources that empower them to renew their lives. Their emergency resource center is the only one in east county serving the homeless and those in crisis. Grossmont Center is proud to partner with Crisis House by collecting new and gently used sports apparel for donation to benefit Crisis House throughout the year. Read more about Crisis House here.

Maryland Avenue Elementary School

Grossmont Center is supporting our local community by benefiting a different organization each month throughout the year. This January, we collected donations of gently used sports equipment and shoes at Grossmont Center that benefited Maryland Avenue Elementary School!

The La Mesa Park and Recreation Foundation

The La Mesa Park and Recreation Foundation facilitates quality projects and programs that provide activities to strengthen community and family bonds as well as foster pride in La Mesa and its parks. Grossmont Center supports this mission by donating all coins from the fountains in the Center to the foundation.

San Diego Food Bank

The Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank is the largest hunger-relief organization in San Diego County. The Food Bank distributed 22 million pounds of food last year and serves 370,000 people every month in communities throughout San Diego County – including working-poor families, fixed-income seniors, elementary school children living in poverty, and 28,000 low-income, active-duty military personnel and their dependents. Grossmont Center is proud to partner with the San Diego Food Bank by hosting food drives throughout the year. Click here to donate food online through the Virtual Food Drive.

The La Mesa and Santee Pageants

For 25 years, Grossmont Center has been a sponsor of the Miss La Mesa, Miss Teen La Mesa, Miss Santee and Miss Teen Santee Pageants. One of their most grand traditions, these pageants provide a mentoring and leadership opportunity for young women allowing them to become a role model for girls in their communities. As the pageants are focused on community service, young women who are awarded the crown will serve as ambassadors of their cities, attending grand openings, parades, summer concerts and chamber functions throughout the year.

San Diego Blood Bank

Grossmont Center is proud to partner with the San Diego Blood Bank to offer blood donation events at the Center. Giving blood is an easy thing to do, but it helps touch the lives of so many. Stay tuned for our next date of donation.
